To Whom It May Concern, As a veteran teacher of 38 years, I fully support the suspension of state mandated testing for 2020-21. In this pandemic, teaching and learning has been uneven despite the best efforts of teachers and students. It's been the unknown every single day. Students require more support in academics and social emotional skills. Therefore, more time is required for instruction rather than losing time to assess. Many of these students missed instruction last year and started the year behind. Lack of broadband connections, device scarcity, and hastily constructed curriculums have led to more learning lags. This year time spent in the spring with instruction and early testing next fall may make a powerful impact on student success next year.
