Our Values

Picture
*BEING PROACTIVE
We stand for the values that are involved with building communities, creating stronger, more inclusive bonds, and protecting people from disaster not only after but before it happens. We do this by speaking up, educating, and serving the people of our great community.

*LOCAL ECONOMY &
THE WORKING CLASS-
Nothing is more important than our local economy. As shown through recent developments, we need to support and engage our local businesses and entrepreneurs in order to secure their future and our County's well-being. We need to be diligent in supplying as much support for our local Unions as possible to protect our fellow citizens from the audacity of large companies and for-profit share-holders.
*EDUCATION- We believe in digging deep to uncover why our education systems are not ranked in the highest percentile in the US and what we, as citizens, can do to provide a firm backbone for teachers, administrators and staff alike to successfully navigate the multifaceted and difficult task of educating our youth.
*SOCIAL JUSTICE- "Of the People" means just that, and until all people are treated fairly and equally we have a duty, as Americans, to push for social change. We believe that through acknowledgement and taking action toward correcting the unfinished job of righting social and economic disparities, we will become a stronger nation that serves all.

HEALTHY PINE RIVER
GCDP strongly supports the bipartisan effort of local residents to restore the health of the Pine River.  At our June 2016 meeting, GCDP passed a formal resolution of support for the Healthy Pine River Group.  We believe that a healthy river is essential to the community's health, its economic future, and its ecological stability.  Furthermore, at our 2019 Reid-Knox Forum on Water, we doubled-down on our effort to recognize and eliminate ignorance pertaining to the growing and absolutely alarming water conditions right here in Gratiot County.
