MERCHANTS OF DOUBT
Community Film Screening
Alma College, Dow Science Building, L1
Sunday, October 22
2 p.m. (Doors open at 1:30)
Free and open to all.
Join GCDP for a community screening of the documentary Merchants of Doubt. Filmmaker Robert Kenner explores how a secretive group of "highly charismatic, silver- tongued pundits-for-hire" present themselves to the media as scientific authorities in order to undermine the credibility of and sow doubt about well-studied public threats ranging from toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals to climate change.
We encourage audience members to consider making a donation to either:
GCDP has adopted a stretch of M-46, and three times a year, our members volunteer their time to keep our local roadways clean. During our July 2017 clean-up, though, we found more than trash along the highway. We found three abandoned kittens, 3 weeks old. Thanks to some quick work by one of our volunteers, all three kittens were in a new foster home by the end of the day, where they will be raised and then adopted out.
All members of the Adopt-a-Highway crew must first go through safety orientation, including MDOT's safety guideline video.
