Reid-Knox Policy Forum on Labor Unions and the Political Setbacks
On Tuesday evening, October 13, we will host the next Reid-Knox Policy Forum at 7:00 p.m. on ZOOM. The reasons for looking at ‘Labor and Politics’ shortly before Election Day are two-fold. First, many local residents and especially campaign workers are not familiar with labor issues. Second, we want to talk about doing a better job reaching out to those union families who are either indifferent or confused about the election. We are lucky to have several union leaders help start the discussion including Bryan Fisher from the United steelworkers and Art Reyes from the United Auto Workers. In addition to those two unions, which have thousands of members in the region, we also will discuss issues in the building trades and regardless of union, among the “essential workers” of all types – nurses, food and commercial workers, teachers and all others. After initial remarks by our panelists, we hope to have many questions and a vigorous discussion. Please plan on joining the ZOOM call and invite others – especially those working in campaigns – to join us. Zoom directions are below.
